La pongiste luxembourgeoise Sarah De Nutte a été éliminée au premier tour. Elle a perdu 3:4 contre la Bulgare Polina Trifonova après avoir mené 3:1 (11:6, 6:11, 11:4, 11:8, 10:12, 9:11, 8:11).
Au deuxième tour, Ni Xia Lian s’est fait éliminer sur le même score (3:4) par la jeune Coréenne Y. Shin.
Dans la course cycliste dames, remportée par l’Autrichienne Anna Kiesenbauer devant la Néerlandaise Annemiek Van Vleuten et l’Italienne Elisa Longho Borghini, la seule représentante luxembourgeoise Christine Majerus s’est classée 20e.
Au contre-la-montre Christine Majerus a pris la 21e place. Cette épreuve a été remportée par la Néerlandaise Van Vleuten qui a ajouté une médaille d’or à celle d’argent remportée dans la course en ligne. Au contre-la montre masculin, c’est le Slovène Primoz Roglic qui s’est adjugé la médaille d’or.
Dans le concours olympique de dressage, Nicolas Wagner sur Quarterback se classe 25e sur 59 concurrents.
Dans l’épreuve du triathlon, Stefan Zachäus finit à la 44e position.
Les nageurs Raphaël Stacchiotti et Julie Meynen ont été éliminés en série et n’ont pas atteint les demi-finales de leur discipline.
Le tireur à l’arc Jeff Henckels perd en 1/32 finale contre le Turc Mete Gazoz par 0:6 et est éliminé.
